It would be designated Medium Recovery Vehicle M88. came forward with a design for a ‘Medium Recovery Vehicle’ in 1954, based on the automotive components of the M48 Patton III medium tank.Īfter 7 years of development, the finalized vehicle was approved. This found use in the United States Marine Corps, the major users of the M103, but the US Army was still in need of a support vehicle for its medium tanks. This was the Heavy Recovery Vehicle M51, itself based on the M103. In answer to the need for a new, more powerful recovery vehicle, the Chrysler Corporation, builders of the M103, produced a companion recovery vehicle for operation with the Heavy Tank. Existing recovery vehicles based on the M4 Sherman, such as the M32 and M74, were reaching the end of their usefulness and proved inadequate to rescue a tank such as the 50 ton (44 tonne) M48 Patton III or the titanic 65 ton (58 tonne) M103 heavy tank. With the introduction of heavier vehicles throughout the Cold War, tanks would continue to gain weight and girth. Armored Recovery Vehicle – Approximately 3,000 BuiltĪs a result of thicker armor, and the ever-increasing caliber of weaponry, tanks and armored vehicles in the aftermath of the Second World War became bigger and heavier. Ill be happy to take more pics or answer any questions when i have time! As for the fit, I sized up for these to a 36 and they fit nicely, although below the knee can be a bit more slim but would appreciate feedback on that part. The distressing is great on these pants and is exactly what ive been looking for. The quality of the pants is pretty good for what I paid, and actually surpassed my expectations, but I do not have much experience with higher end denim. These are my first pair of very distressed denim and overall I am happy with the purchase. Ordering size 36 pants, they came with a 34 inseam, which make the pants just a tad bit too long, but I would appreciate some feedback on the fit of these in the comments :) for some second opinions. The calves also fit nicely, as they aren’t too tight although I think they can fit a little more snug. I was surprised that the upper thigh fit pretty comfortably since I heard these pants have an aggressive taper and was expecting suffocation with 100% cotton pants. I followed the sizing guide on MNML’s website and ordered size 36 pants. The thickest part of my upper thigh measures in at 25.5 inches while my calves are 15.5 inches. I am 5’11/190lbs with a slightly athletic build, especially in the legs where my upper thigh is larger and so are my calves. Normally I wear a size 34 in 511’s due to my legs being thicker than average. The most important part of any jeans is the fit. Everything else about the pants feels very solid. My favorite part of the pants is actually the extra patching it has on the inner thigh area, since for me that is the part of jeans that give out because of my T H I C C thighs. The M1 pants feature a button up waist and comes with extra buttons. The zippers on the legs do not feel cheap and zip up and down without a problem. I love the construction of these pants with the minor details they have included. The cotton is comfortable to wear while still holding its shape. Personally for me I like the feel of these jeans compared to my other jeans, but I only have experience with Levi 511’s, which tend to feel a little too stretchy for me. M1 is 100% Cotton with little to no stretch. Recurring Simple Questions and General Discussion Thread Our Social Media How to tag your submission with post flair.
